In addition to being “every woman,” Chaka Khan can add independent record label owner/artist to her long list of accomplishments.

According to sources, the legendary powerhouse vocalist and songwriter recently launched iKhan Sounds, an indie label and merchandising company. This power-move comes as a response to Khan wanting more control over her music career including being able to choose what type of songs she will record, as well as getting her rightful share of profits from music and merchandising.

To celebrate the launch and major milestone in her career, Khan will release a new song about self-esteem and self-care entitled, “I Love Myself” on June 16:

“The lyrics to “I Love Myself” give voice to the deeply personal and continuing journey of my life and the obstacles I continue to overcome both publicly and privately.”

Sources say the new tune was crafted with the help of Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter B. Slade.

We can’t be mad at that Chaka! Congrats!
