With no fanfare or much attention, 70-year-old O.J. Simpson was released from the Lovelock Correctional Center around midnight early Sunday morning.
Simpson served nine years in the Las Vegas prison on 12 charges, including armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and kidnapping. This followed a confrontation in a Las Vegas hotel involving reported stolen sports memorabilia. His sentence had been scheduled to end Sept. 29, 2022, but a parole board granted an early release for The Juice in July.
And while Simpson wanted to be in Florida with his children and grandchildren. the state’s attorney general told the Florida Department of Corrections, that she was against it.
“Floridians are well aware of Mr. Simpson’s background, his wanton disregard for the lives of others, and of his scofflaw attitude with respect to the heinous acts for which he has been found civilly liable,” Pam Bondi said. “Our state should not become a country club for this convicted criminal.”
But George Zimmerman can live there comfortably? Got it.
