Usher Bares It All For IG

You see, there’s an app called Instagram, where the initial purpose is for you to capture and share life’s precious moments with friends and family.

Or, you can display your in-shape body (that you’ve been killing yourself in the gym for all summer) with a “nekkid” selfie like Usher did (obviously, NSFW):

Well hello there #Usher ?

Although many still use Instagram for its original purpose, let’s keep it ?.  We all know the platform is REALLY a tool to display physical attractiveness. The notorious “thirst trap” is almost synonymous with the selfie. And is it just us, or is personal training and IG modeling on an all-time high?

There is a down-side to the world of Instagram, though. What does it mean for the rest of us who don’t necessarily fit the mold of what is considered attractive? The constant exposure to hyper-sexualized photos upon opening the app have left many victim to low self-esteem and body shaming. Gabourey Sidibe, who is constantly under pressure to fit a certain standard of beauty, reacts to negative criticism in a Lane Bryant campaign:

@gabby3shabby let’s the haters know in this @lanebryant campaign!! #BodyPositivity
