Lou Myers

Myers was born on September 26, 1945 in Charleston, South Carolina. He has appeared in many movies, stage plays, television sitcoms, and dramas; but is usually cast as a grumpy, old man. Myers is probably best known as the grouchy Mr. Vernon Gaines in  A Different World. However, Myers is as an accomplished pianist, has  won an NAACP Image Award for his role King Hedley II, as well as an  Off-Broadway AUDELCO Award for his role in  Fat Tuesday. In 2005, the Appalachian Education Initiative listed Myers as one of 50 “Outstanding Creative Artists” from the State of West Virginia and featured him in their book Art & Soul.
