Here is an event that we didn’t mention on our list of BLACK things to do during Inauguration weekend: The Busboys and Poet’s Peace Ball: Voices of Hope and Resistance.
Held at the National Museum of African American Museum of History & Culture in Washington, D.C., the event served as an “alternate” inauguration ceremony where artists and speakers came together to remember the eight years of President Barack Obama.
Leading the performers of the night were Solange and Esperanza Spalding:
Speakers and celebrity attendees of the ceremony included Danny Glover, Van Jones, Ashley Judd, Melissa Harris-Perry, Marian Wright Edelman, Sen. Cory Booker, and Angela Davis:
Wish we were there!
