Now here’s a story about resilience (we’ll get to the very obvious in a second).
Last month, Chokwe Antar Lumumba officially became the youngest mayor in the history of Jackson, Mississippi. The 34-year-old beat his 2014 running mate Mayor Tony Yarber in an excruciating loss – Lumumba’s father left the mayor seat vacant when he passed away after serving less than a year in office. He was the city’s third black mayor.
We are grateful for the love & support of our fellow Jacksonians! Great things ahead for us all. Thanks be to God. #MayorElectLumumba pic.twitter.com/nbSmfBLI8G

With Lumumba in office, Jacksonians should absolutely feel at ease. Take a look at his inspirational Mayoral candidate video below.
We will fix our infrastructure. We will improve our education system. We will decrease crime. We will do it together. #RestoringtheVision pic.twitter.com/vR9JpIP37J

Now to the part that has nothing to do with anything, but is still maybe, possibly, kind of worth mentioning. Mayor Lumumba is HOT!
Heard Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba speak tonight in Jackson, Mississippi. A radical and thoughtful leader for a rising city. I'm a believer. pic.twitter.com/STQpcdAA8v

And by the way his gorgeous wife Ebony looked at him during his swearing in, we think she agrees!
