It’s a sad day in America when you have to film every encounter with the police.
Such was the case over the weekend when Chance The Rapper was pulled over in his hometown of Chicago. The 24-year-old Grammy-award winning artist livestreamed his traffic stop to seven million Instagram followers “just it got out of hand.” Chance and his daughter’s mother Kirsten Corley were driving home from church on Sunday when the stop happened.
Corley can be heard saying, “We have no records.”
Chance replies, “We have no record, no burners, my baby … she’s knocked out…big faith in the men and women who wear the uniform, but policing as a system is disproportionately racist and oppressive.”
An officer appears to give Corley a warning, and they both thank the officer.
As we know, there are have been hundreds who haven’t been as lucky.
