Both Howard University and the DC Police department have reported a “potential shooter” around the Howard University campus. As of now, no confirmed reports of shots fired but the police are still investigating. Unfortunately, this disturbing news comes just a few days before Homecoming festivities, where the university plans to celebrate their sesquicentennial, 150 years of educating Black students.

DC Police are currently on the scene and haven’t found anything suspicious according to initial reports. They’re asking anyone in the area to avoid 6th St from Fairmont St to College St and Howard Pl from Georgia Ave to 4th St.

Howard University initially reported their concern around 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, after they were anonymously notified of a potential shooter on campus. They immediately reached out to the police and evacuated the Administration Building.

ABC News 7 posted the following video, while on scene at the “potential shooting” location.

We hope and pray everyone remains safe.
