If you don’t remember, earlier this year Venus Williams was involved in a car accident that resulted in the fatality of 79 year old Jerome Barson. Though Barson did not die at the scene, he succumbed to his injuries nearly 2 weeks later.

Shortly thereafter the Barson family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Williams, the deposition for which she is sitting for today.

TENNIS STAR TESTIMONY: @venuswilliams did not answer questions as she arrived at her lawyer’s office in West Palm Beach, Florida, to give a deposition related to the fatal June car crash that killed an elderly man. The family of the victim is suing the tennis champion – who was not ticketed by police in the crash – for wrongful death. #venus #venuswilliams #tennis #star #car #crash #lawsuit #deposition #court #police #westpalmbeach #florida

Just a refresher:

Williams claimed to have entered the intersection on a green light, but had to stop in the middle of the intersection due to backed up traffic. While she was in the intersection Barson’s car – driven by Jerome Barson’s wife, Linda Barson – collided with Williams.

The police report estimates that Williams was driving five miles per hour when the accident occurred.

While Venus initially refused to respond to a deposition date, after the judge got involved she finally agreed. According to dailymail.co.uk, last month Venus also filed documents that said another driver who escaped unscathed is at least partly to blame for the accident.

The deposition could move to trial if things don’t go well today.
