NBA icon Julius ‘Dr. J’ Eving is expected to make a full recovery after being admitted to the hospital days ago. The 67-year-old’s management team took to Twitter to update fans.
Message from Mr. Erving’s Management Team: Mr. Erving has been released from the hospital after a comprehensive medical evaluation. He’s expected to make a full recovery and sincerely thanks all of his friends and fans for their well wishes and prayers.
Erving fell ill while attending Friday’s game between the 76ers and Detroit Pistons.
Statement on behalf of Dr. J’s management team:
“Mr. Erving fell ill at tonight’s game and was taken to a local hospital, where he is currently being evaluated. He is expected to be released after the evaluation.”
According to Bleacher Report, the former 76ers player was in attendance at the Wells Fargo Center to celebrate the 35th anniversary of his famous cradle dunk.
Erving led the Sixers to their most recent NBA championship in 1983 and was the 1981 NBA MVP. Hemarried Dorýs Madden in 2008.
