Most of the world hadn’t heard of Recy Taylor until Oprah mentioned the 97-year-old woman in her incredible speech at the Golden Globes earlier this month. Since then mainstream media introduced her story as a rape survivor (in 1944 six white men abducted and raped her. She was 24) to the masses.

While on assignment for 60 minutes, she visited Taylor’s gravesite in Abbeville, Alabama, sharing photos on social media.

“I wanted everybody to know that the #MeToo moment didn’t just start now. Her case is one that never found justice.”

Watch below.

Taylor made national headlines after reporting her rape and as a result the NAACP sent Rosa Parks to advocate for the young woman, years before she refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus. Taylor’s attackers were never prosecuted. She died in December, three days before her 98th birthday.
