For more than 20 years Snoop Dogg has solidified his place in Hip Hop and now the 46-year-old is aiming to dominate the world of venture capitalism with his new firm, Casa Verde Capital. According to Tech Crunch, the firm focuses on the “ancillary cannabis industry which means that it is concerned with agtech, health & wellness, financial services, technology, media, compliance and laboratory technology benefits of cannabis.”
And if you know anything about Snoop, a business rooted in cannabis is not at all surprising (earlier this year he partnered with Jack in the Box for Merry Munchie Meals, a loaded box that contains three chicken strips, two tacos, five churros, french fries, onion rings and a small drink. Mike Tyson is another star that sees the value of pot-related related businesses, as he announced plans to open a 40-acre marijuana ranch.)
And if you think the father of four is just the face of the company, think again. Casa Verde’s managing partner Karan Wadhera says, “He’s among the most important cultural figures in this industry, which is incredibly important. His involvement lends a lot of credibility and excitement to our portfolio companies. He’s also there for input whenever we need it.”
Smart move Snoop. Be sure to watch the hip hop legend in an upcoming episode of UNCENSORED next month.
