When the news first surfaced of a remake of Superfly, many weren’t excited, despite an all-star cast, including Trevor Jackson (Grownish, American Crime), Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton, The Chi) and Future as the producer of the film’s soundtrack.

Even with the addition of Emmy nominated actor Michael K. Williams (The Wire), excitement around the 1972 cult classic wasn’t nearly as high as you’d think.

The original film, directed by Gordon Parks Jr. and starred Ron O’Neal as Priest, an African American cocaine dealer who tries to secure one more deal before getting out of the business. The film will reportedly be in theaters June 15.
