In an unconventional move for many, Sex and the City‘s Cynthia Nixon was invited on-stage at a Eric B. and Rakimconcert this week, in an effort to recruit black and brown voters in her run for Governor of New York.
Last month the accomplished actress (she has a Grammy, Emmy and Tony) and LGBTQ advocate announced her run for Governor in an incredibly moving video that focuses on the state’s horrific poverty conditions.
Should she win, Nixon would become the first female and first openly gay governor in the state’s history. She is set to challenge Governor Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary in September. In related news, the iconic rap duo is going on tour for the first time in 25 years.
