Taj George Bio

Tamara Antrice Johnson-George, the youngest of six, rose from poverty and a troubled youth to become a successful wife, mother, author and entertainer.  Though primarily recognized as Taj, one-third of the multi-platinum selling R&B group – Sisters with Voices (SWV), Taj is quickly being recognized as a star in her own right.

It’s been years since the trio known to the music industry as SWV released their last album and Taj says she needed the time.  “Sometimes you need time to heal and refresh so that you can give your best." she says.  It’s no secret that SWV’s presence in the music industry helped to open doors for the many girl groups that followed them.

During their time apart Taj has definitely been busy!  Taj relocated to Los Angeles to pursue acting and eventually returned to school to work toward completing her degree.  Eventually, Taj planted her feet in Nashville, TN where she did complete her degree requirements and is now an alumna of Belmont University in Nashville where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Marketing.

Taj was married in 2004 to former NFL running back, Eddie George, gave birth to her first child in 2005 and published her first book, Player HateHer: Why Can’t Women Just Get Along? (Amistad/Harper Collins) in 2008.  Taj also runs the non-profit organization, Visions w/Infinite Possibilities (V.I.P.), which was founded by her husband.  “Our mission is to support and enlighten women and children of domestic abuse through fundraisers and various speaking engagements that will ultimately help create a place of shelter and rebuilding."  V.I.P. plans to visit several shelters across the nation as Tamara spearheads the “Sisters Inspiring Success – S.I.S.” Tour developed to uplift and inspire.
