Billy Dee Williams caught the attention of many over the weekend, after announcing he was “gender-fluid” during a recent interview with Esquire.

“You see, I say ‘himself’ and ‘herself,’ because I also see myself as feminine as well as masculine. I’m a very soft person. I’m not afraid to show that side of myself. I think of myself as a relatively colorful character who doesn’t take himself or herself too seriously.”

So what does this mean, if anything, for his relationship (the 82-year-old has been married to Teruko Nakagami since 1972)? Only time will tell.

Williams joins the dozens of celebrities over the last year that have revealed a new identification sexually. Earlier this year Tessa Thompson came out as bisexual and Janelle Monae admitted to being pansexual.
